Bon Jovi-Background
Bon Jovi is back in 2008 with a continuance of its Lost Highway tour from last summer. The band received such a positive response that the greatest hits tour in 2008 has been retooled to incorporate the country-influenced songs of Lost Highway.
The album was so well received in 2007 that it was nominated for the Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2008 Grammy Awards. The album features hit songs with the guest appearances of country superstars Big & Rich and LeAnn Rimes. The new tour will feature the favorites from the old (the ‘80s), the new (the 21st century), and the in between (the ‘90s).
Bon Jovi-History
Bon Jovi is probably best remembered for front man Jon Bon Jovi and the 1986 release Slippery When Wet, but the bands start goes back to a struggling singer and a chance hit on a local radio show. The band’s existence can be almost certainly attributed to the single “Runaway” on a radio show that was showcasing local talent.
The response spawned the formation of Bon Jovi through the recruitment of Richie Sambora, David Bryan, Tico Torres, and Alec John Such. The band played local show until a music representative from Mercury Records signed the band in 1984 and gave them their name, Bon Jovi.
The first two albums, Bon Jovi and 7800 Degrees Fahrenheit, sold millions of copies, but failed to escalate the band to super stardom. Slippery When Wet and its hit singles “You Give Love a Bad Name,” “Livin’ On A Prayer,” and “Wanted Dead or Alive” sold more than 26 million copies and solidified Bon Jovi’s place amongst the rock gods of the ‘80s.
The follow up album New Jersey brought the band to the end of the decade and to a much needed break. Fully energized, Bon Jovi entered the ‘90s with Keep the Faith and These Days, reasserting their relevance when so many hair bands of the decade past had failed to make the transition. Once again, at the end of the decade, the group took a long break.
The turn of the century found the fans older and the albums selling less, but the tours still going strong. Crush was a mega hit, but the rest of the releases did not fair as well. They sold in the millions, but did not make it into the off the chart numbers of the previous successes.
To this day the tours are talked about and riddled with anticipation. These concerts are more events than mere greatest hits machines. With tickets difficult to find, The Seats is an online ticket broker that is the best Internet source for Bon Jovi tickets.
