KC & the Sunshine Band began playing together in 1997. The lead singer use to listen to cassette tapes constantly as a teenager. The bassist wanted to start a group since he was in college. KC & the Sunshine Band began singing at Terminology, a local dive bar. The group was influenced by the Beach Boys.

submitted their single to Q91.5 and a DJ took a liking to it. KC & the Sunshine Band always wanted to hear themselves at the top of the charts and they got their wish with the release of their first single.

After this past non-stop year the members of KC & the Sunshine Band will take a break to work on other projects. The band may have just finished their latest album, but they are plotting their next move already.
