Neil Diamond Tickets
Neil Diamond: Background
Songwriter Hall of Fame member and Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Neil Diamond has been playing professionally since 1958 when he got out of high school in Brooklyn.
Diamond made his start early on as unsuccessful duo with his high school friend Jack Parker, then as an unsuccessful solo artist. Neil found a place for himself as a song writer in the Brill Building. His song writing hits include “I’m a Believer”, “A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You”, “Look Out”, and “Love to Love” for The Monkees.
“Solitary Man” launched his career that has produced 29 studio albums to date and countless hit singles. It took over ten years, but in 1969 Neil Diamond finally hit gold with Touching You, Touching Me. The talented singer and songwriter had yet to make it as a world renowned performer until 1972 and the release of Hot August Night. The double album was recorded on August 24, 1972 during one of his ten sold out shows at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
Neil Diamond’s career took off with great movie albums like Jonathon Livingston Seagull and The Jazz Singer, but the ‘80s took saw his albums slip from platinum to gold. He has since made a come back in the late’90s and turn of the century as he became an increasing cultural reference for television (Will Ferrell on Saturday Night Live) and movies (Saving Silverman and What About Bob?).
