Boston Celtics Tickets
2008 Outlook
After making a strong push in the weak Eastern conference with the triple threat of power forward Kevin Garnett, small forward Paul Pierce, and shooting guard Ray Allen, the Celtics look to improve where they can with limited cap room. Role players like point guard Rajon Rondo, center Kendrick Perkins, and shooting guard Tony Allen and late additions like point guard Sam Cassell and power forward P.J. Brown helped round out the team that dominated the East.
Team History
The Celtics are the most successful team in NBA history. Their 60 years in the league includes sixteen championships, the most of any team in the league. That unimaginable success is marked by a string of eight straight NBA Championships, from 1959 to 1966.
The Celtics remained a powerhouse in the league until the mid-1980s. That long period of the team’s history included a long list of talented players. Bill Russell, Bob Cousy, Tommy Heinsohn, and K.C Jones ran the Celtics during the championship runs in the 1960s. Dave Cowens, Paul Silas, John Havlicek, and Jo Jo White continued Celtic’s domination during the 70s. The legendary frontline of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parrish paired with underrated guard Dennis Johnson to fuel the intense rivalry with Magic Johnson and the Lakers in the 1980s.
Between the 80s and the 2007 acquisition of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett the Celtics struggled with on the court and off the court problems. The drug-related death of Len Bias and unfortunate death of Reggie Lewis, the heir apparent to Larry Bird, left the Celtics franchise largely out of contention until 2007 despite multiple attempts to rebuild through the draft and free agency. Come see the historic combination of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen with tickets from TheSeats.com.
